Queensland Garden Expo 2017

Qld Garden Expo 2017The Queensland Garden Expo is the must attend event in 2017 for experienced gardeners and novices alike. This expo will be held in the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Nambour from 7th to 9th July. The three day expo is Queensland’s premier gardening event and attracts over 35,000 people from all parts Australia. You’re sure to return home relaxed and inspired!

Featuring some of Australia’s leading gardening experts delivering three days of lectures, and demonstrations. You are most welcome to take part in workshops. You’ll be be inspired by the fantastic arrangements in the Floral Design Competition.

With over 55 nurseries represented and more than 360 exhibitors you will see plants of all varieties and descriptions. With the program of free lectures and demonstrations on eight “live” stages every day covering a vast array of gardening topics you’ll be sure to find something that you can learn about gardening.

Are you looking for some expert advice and tips on growing your own produce and turning it into delicious gourmet meals? No problem it’s all here simply seek out the ‘Gardeners and Gourmets’ stage. There is a giant kitchen garden that has an organic food court with a fully planted sustainable garden constructed onsite.

Authentic Zen Garden In The Suburbs

Set against a backdrop of 470 hectares of koala bushland, this authentic Japanese Zen Garden will open to the public for the first time. Enter the lush and tranquil sanctuary through the cedar wood gate and be greeted by male and female waterfalls cascading into a large pond.

From the tea house and viewing platform, take in the soothing surrounds as water trickles into rock passages and under specially crafted bridges.

Designed by Tokyo-based master landscaper Tamon Yamaguchi, the Zen Garden cost $500,000 to complete.  This garden showcases a magnificent display of plants including Sango Kaku (Acer Palmatum), Trident Maple, Tropical Birch , Crape Myrtle, Scarlet Maple, Eumundi, White Oak, Chinese Elm, Weeping Willow, Banbusa Chungii, Bamboo, Nepalese Blue , Timor Black, Japanese Maple, Zosia, Mondo grass and Viola.

Lindmar Open Garden and Plant Lovers Fair

When: 3 – 4 June 2017

This is a beautifully presented acreage garden where curving pathways take you past large gardens of flowering camellias, bromeliads, coleus, iresine. Featuring an established rainforest, shady seating areas and quirky garden features.

In attendance will be specialist growers of cottage garden perennials, orchids, tropical plants, herbs, bromeliads, succulents and rare and unusual climbing plants.

There will be plant sales, garden talks, arts and crafts, native bee demonstrations, jams and preserves, garden furniture and tools.

9.30am-4pm both days.
Entry $7, under 18 free.
Light refreshments will be available for sale.
Toilet facilities on site. Easy access for wheelchairs.

Gardening on the Edge

Gardening on the Edge 2017Where: Maleny Showgrounds, Maleny-Stanley River Road, Maleny.

Visit six privately owned hinterland gardens. Tickets at Maleny Showgrounds and at the gardens.
$20 for 6 gardens, $12 for 3 gardens and $5 for 1 garden.
Free entry to garden market with over 20 specialist stalls.

Cactus & Succulent Show

Cactus & Succulent Show 2017Where: The Auditorium, Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt. Coot-tha.
When: 10 – 11 June 2017

Presented by the Cactus and Succulent Society of Queensland Inc. Plant displays, competitions, lots and lots of large & small quality plants for sale, including many rare and unusual ones. Members of the Society will be on hand for help with any questions associated with growing succulent plants.
